History
Sinergise started as a GIS division of the Cosylab company in year 2003. At that time Cosylab focused (and still is) on development of control systems for particle accelerators. Its expertise was in getting massive amounts of data from thousands of devices distributed throughout the accelerator to the central location in a very short period of time (some synchronization has to be made in a matter of nanoseconds). We discovered that technologies developed for that purpose could serve in other projects with similar problems as well. With GIS one has to serve giga-bytes of data (aerial photography etc.) from the central location to hundreds or thousands of concurrent users. Therefore we found synergies and started developing an application for managing land use of Slovenia for the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food. The results evolved into packaged solutions later used in England, Croatia and other countries.
In 2008 Cosylab GIS division formed a self-sufficient team and a decision has been made to form a new company. Sinergise, Cosylab’s first spin-off, was born.
